A Capsule Wardrobe for beach holidays

Pack a small selection of clothes that can be mixed and matched to make a large variety of outfits. Whilst the daytime is dominated by the beach, there are some questions to ask yourself before deciding on your key pieces:

• Will there be day trips away from the beach?
• Is there a cultural expectation? (Check out our destination pages for more advice on this).
• Nightlife... is this centred around smart hotels/restaurants where there is an expectation or an opportunity to dress up, or is it more chilled out and relaxed?
• If you are a fan of killer heels maybe think of switching to sparkly flats for night time; the heat can make feet swell and heels really uncomfortable.
• Staples include: sun hat , sunglasses and sun screen
• Whilst it's hot during the day, how much cooler is it in the evenings? If there is mention of a cool breeze during the day... it will feel even cooler at night.
• Hotel air conditioning can be fierce making it feel cold even when it is very hot outside.
• Never underestimate how costume jewellery can transform an outfit. And remember bright accessories show off a tan.
